“Unfortunately for that doctor I’d gone to the Serengeti with my parents as a child and witnessed such a pursuit.” – p.48 A Discovery of Witches, Deborah Harkness (trade paperback version)
So many possibilities! What shall we do next?
Unfortunately for that doctor I’d gone to the Serengeti with my parents as a child and witnessed such a pursuit. Several sweaty old men with pot-bellies chasing an elephant was not my idea of noble and never would be, no matter how much he argued. Furthermore, now that I knew where the ivory for his beautiful sculptures had come from, I was absolutely revolted. To think this kindly old man I had looked up to all my life had such a terribly cruel hobby was devastating.
There! How’s that? Since I haven’t even gotten to page 48 yet, I have no clue how close or far I am from the original, but hey, it was fun
Yay for some writing! I wonder if I still have time to participate …
