Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge is where Tara @ 25 Hour Books and Amanda @ On a Book Bender shamelessly plug each other, share the fantastic posts, giveaways, or whatever else we’ve found and loved by other awesome bloggers (or authors!) during the week, and talk about the books we plan on reading in the coming week. [Description and banner borrowed from On a Book Bender]
The Corner Newsstand
(This week on Creativity’s Corner)
- I complained about Doctor Who’s lack of major story arc.
- I wrote an open letter to friends of the blog.
- And I reviewed Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Behind the Desk
(My life behind the scenes)
- I am taking the GRE a week from tomorrow *cue major flaily freak-out.* I’ve had a stress headache for the past four days straight from all the cramming. As such, I’ve decided to take a week off from posting so I have more time to study! Since I haven’t taken a math class in over 6 years, I’m gonna need it.
- MY NOOK WORKS! Well, okay, only if it’s plugged in, and if you cross every finger, spin counter-clockwise three times and knock on wood first. I’m still looking into it, but at least I can read on it SOME.
Around the Corner
(Blog posts I found awesome since the last post)
- Kristilyn (Reading in Winter) is doing a huge blogiversary month-long bash! This week there were two posts I loved: How to Purge your Bookshelves and a guest post on how Kelsey (Kelsey’s Cluttered Bookshelf) got her fiancé to read.
- Amanda (On a Book Bender) posted a discussion on the Entitlement Mentality. I haven’t commented yet, because I’m not sure what I want to say exactly, but it’s a great post to get you thinking!
- Alissa (The Grammarian’s Reviews) asked what we do when life gets in the way of blogging. I know I need to work on this too!
GoodReaders’ Digest
(Books I’ve read in the past week and books I plan to read next. Also includes stats for the Unbreaking the Shelves Challenge)
- Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan (I bought Mark of Athena and I figured I’d better remind myself what happened before I started it.)
- I also DNF-ed Warped by Maurissa Guibord. I set it down over a week ago and didn’t feel the need to pick it back up. As this is the SECOND time I’ve gotten it out of the library (the first, I turned it in without even reading the first page) I decided it really was time to give up.
Currently Reading:
- Unseen Academicals by Terry Pratchett (still)
- What a Boy Wants by Nyrae Dawn
- The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan
Unbreaking the Shelves stats:
Get my “Embarrassed I haven’t read yet” shelf under 45.
- Beginning total: 65
- As of 10/14: still 62
Keep my to-read-now list as close to 250 as possible. Expert level: bring it down to 235. [Edit: I am so failing at this one ]
- Beginning total: 253
- As of 10/14: 260
Added:
- Velveteen by Daniel Marks (to-read-now)
- Nameless by Lili St. Crow (to-read-now)
Read 15 books off of my Series Completion list
EXPERT LEVEL: Read a total of 57 books from the TBR list (overshooting my original GR year goal by 25)
Good luck on your studying! And thanks for the discussion post links! Very interesting blogs!
Thank you! So far I think it’s going well. I hope!
Good luck on your GRE! YOU CAN DO IT!
*huggles you* How could I not with such a great cheering section? 😀
Ha ha. I love how some of us just keep ADDING the books to the shelves. It’s hard not to!
Good luck with your GRE!!
Yay for your Nook working!
Well I can’t NOT add them! I would forget about them if I didn’t add them. The GOAL is to add less than I read per week… which never seems to happen
