Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge is where Tara @ 25 Hour Books and Amanda @ On a Book Bender shamelessly plug each other, share the fantastic posts, giveaways, or whatever else we’ve found and loved by other awesome bloggers (or authors!) during the week, and talk about the books we plan on reading in the coming week. The Corner Newsstand
(This week on Creativity’s Corner)

  • The blog was on hiatus this week so I had more time to study. BUT there was so much awesome going around this week that I want to share!

Behind the Desk
(My life behind the scenes)

Do you remember a few weeks ago when I said I needed ALL THE LUCK? Whatever you did – THANK YOU! It worked and I have big news!

I GOT A NEW JOB!!!

The university library where I’ve been volunteering for the last 9 months put in a grant proposal a few months ago to see if they could bring me on as a part time cataloger for a special project. Nobody figured it would get much of anywhere, because the higher-ups are all very strict about only hiring work-study students for the library (which frustrates the permanent staffers to no end because it means they don’t always get to hire the person best suited for the job). When I asked for luck a few weeks ago, I had just found out that it had made it through all the levels of approval in the library, and was headed to the provost’s office (which is both the most and least likely place it would get vetoed). Well, this week we found out it went through and they offered me a job!

Essentially I will be spending my time cataloging a HUGE room full of backlogged LPs (Long-play records, for those who might not remember what LPs are). It’s a daunting task, and they honestly don’t expect me to finish before I go away to grad school next fall. Clearly they don’t know me and my “get ALL THE THINGS done” kind of attitude =P I get my own little “office” – one corner of the room where I can set up however I want, and I can essentially set my own hours, up to 30 a week. And the best part? I get to QUIT my job at the chocolate shop! I am so incredibly excited for this job I CAN’T EVEN… *flails and squeals wildly*

*remembers I’m taking a test tomorrow and sobers up REAL fast* On the other hand… if anyone has any luck left? :)

Around the Corner
(Blog posts I found awesome since the last post)

  • Kristilyn (Reading in Winter) is still doing her blogiversary bash. I seriously have the biggest blogger crush on her right now, because I think I marked almost ALL of her posts this week to share. If you don’t have time for all that here are some highlights: Alexa’s guest post, Reading Changes Lives and a discussion on Book Blogging and Real Life.
  • Amanda (On a Book Bender) and Kristilyn also interviewed each other this week! If you like to stalk them like I do you’ll definitely want to read these! Amanda’s is here and Kristilyn’s is here. And seriously, if you don’t like to stalk them WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU???
  • Smash (Smash Attack Reads) confessed to having book anxiety every time she chooses what to read next. I do the EXACT SAME THING. For me, it’s the fact that by choosing to read one of the books I am by default NOT choosing another. That makes choosing difficult because I want to read ALL OF THEM right now!
  • Celine (Nyx Book Reviews) discussed a hot-button issue in her post Three Common Misconceptions about Piracy. As a musician I’m not sure I agree with all of the points she makes. But as a consumer I do. What can I say, I’m a conflicted person!
  • Danny (Bewitched Bookworms) wrote a great post about not getting burned out on blogging. I know I’ve linked to a lot of this kind of post, but I have to keep reminding myself of everything she’s saying – The biggest pressure to blogging is my own creation!

GoodReaders’ Digest
(Books I’ve read in the past week and books I plan to read next. Also includes stats for the Unbreaking the Shelves Challenge)

Read:
  • The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan – Need. House. Of. Hades! NOW!
  • What a Guy Wants by Nyrae Dawn – Cute but not quite as good as I was hoping.
  • Red Glove by Holly Black – OMFG what? SO CONFUSED! But in a good way!

Currently Reading:

  • Beginning total: 253
  • As of 10/14: 257

Added:

  • The Industry by Rose Foster (to-read-now)
  • Cold Spell by Jackson Pearce (to-read-now)

  1. Congrats on the new job! As someone who loves organizing and cataloging things it sounds FANTASTIC! And I will definitely send some good luck vibes to you this week!

Thanks for all the blog love!

  2. Yay! Congrats on your job! That is very exciting. :)

How are you liking (or not liking) Anna Dressed in Blood?

    • Anne says:

I’m only about 20 pages in, but it’s good so far. It has a very Supernatural (as in TV Show) feel to it, which I really like. Haven’t even met Anna yet, though, which will probably be a big influence on my final verdict.

  3. Celine says:

Thanks for linking up my piracy post. I can’t believe I didn’t see it until now >.>
