Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge is where Tara @ 25 Hour Books and Amanda @ On a Book Bender shamelessly plug each other, share the fantastic posts, giveaways, or whatever else we’ve found and loved by other awesome bloggers (or authors!) during the week, and talk about the books we plan on reading in the coming week. [Description and banner borrowed from On a Book Bender]

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these – OOPS! I guess I just got busy, sorry!

Behind the Desk
(My life behind the scenes)

The past few weeks have been crazy! First, our router went down on Christmas Eve, which forced me to take some down time. It was all good though – I’d meant to take a week off for the holidays, and this just meant I didn’t get to warn anyone about it. Sorry! Anyway, I had a wonderful holiday with lots of opportunities to catch up with friends!

In other exciting news – I have been granted an interview for the program I want at my top school! *does happy dance* I’m still nervous, of course, especially since I only have a week to prepare. But I’m extremely excited because this means I’m one step closer to getting my Masters degree! 😀

Around the Corner
(Blog posts I found awesome since the last post)

Most of my flagged posts this week were year-end recommendation posts, so I won’t list those – this section would go on forever if I did!

GoodReaders’ Digest
(Books I’ve read in the past week and books I plan to read next. Also includes stats for the Unbreaking the Shelves Challenge)

  • Valkyrie Rising by Ingrid Paulson – Okay. Not quite as epic as I wanted.
  • Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan – Bookish Bucket List
  • The Woman who Died a Lot by Jasper Fforde – Better than the last one – maybe we’ll finally get back to the epic of the first few?
  • The Serpent’s Shadow by Rick Riordan – still not my favorite series, but definitive proof he’ll be combining them all!
  • The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater – LOVED the water horses!
  • Montmorency: Thief, Liar, Gentleman? by Eleanor Updale – A little too… concise? Weird complaint, I know.
  • Green Rider by Kristen Britain – I used to LOVE this kind of book – must read more!
  • Sean Griswold’s Head by Lindsey Leavitt – Pretty good for a contemp, but not my fave.
  • Glitch by Heather Anastasiu – REVIEW
  • Storm’s Heart by Thea Harrison – *giggles* That was fun!
  • Unraveling by Elizabeth Norris – Review coming 1/29*
  • Switched by Amanda Hawking – Review coming 1/31*
  • Origin by Jessica Khoury – I should have loved it, and I can’t figure out why I didn’t.

*subject to change

  1. SWITCHED! I have that series! i really should start it soon! Meanwhile, HOLY CRAP you read a lot of books in the past few weeks — go you! I had a lot of downtime, but not a lot of reading time. With houseguests and doing things with the husband, there wasn’t any time to read. Hopefully I can make up for it this week!

Yay for all the challenges! I hope to kick BUTT on the challenges this year!

Yeah, I guess I did read a lot. I mean that’s like three weeks worth but still. I’d been putting off Switched for a long time – I think I renewed it as many times as I could from the library lol, and I finally just forced myself to read it cause I knew it had to go back.

I’m hoping to kick butt too – I really gotta work on paring down the TBR pile! 😛

Many older posts are currently under reconstruction. Please excuse the inconvenience.
