Tips for new readers

Hello and welcome to Creativity’s Corner! I’m so glad you found your way to my little corner of the internet! For those of you who are new around here, or who aren’t familiar with WordPress blogs, this list of tips for new readers should help you with what to do next.

Say you’re reading a post, and you have something to say about it. That’s great! This blog is all about discussion, and that’s what the comments are for! If you’re on the home-page you’ll want to scroll back to the top of the post and click on the text that says “# comments.” That will take you to the post page and jump down to the comment box where you can type whatever you have to say, and leave us a way to contact you with replies. As an added bonus, I have a plugin installed that will notify you if you receive direct replies to your comments – this is NOT a subscribe to all type thing, so your inbox won’t be flooded unless you get TONS of direct replies. But, not to worry, if you don’t want them, you can uncheck the box before submitting the comment to opt out.

If you’d like to reply to someone else’s comment, just click the “reply” button under their comment – a new comment box will appear where you can type a threaded comment, and if they haven’t opted out, they’ll get an email notification that you replied!

So you’ve been hanging around for a few weeks and you’ve decided you want to subscribe. Right under the welcome box you’ll find a widget helpfully titled “Subscribe” with options for RSS or email feeds. You can also connect with me on Twitter, GoodReads and Pinterest from that widget (though I’ll warn you I try to keep myself OFF Pinterest to avoid wasting spending HOURS, so there isn’t much activity there).

Finding things

You’re looking for that review you KNOW you read a month ago but you can’t find it! There are several ways to go about this – if you remember the title or author of the book, check the Drop-down menu under “Reviews” for the “by author” and “by title” lists. They’re in alphabetical order and I try to keep them fairly up to date, so they should give you a direct link to what you’re looking for. If you can’t remember either title or author, not to worry! You can sort posts by genre tag or by date in the “categories” and “archive” widgets respectively, so you don’t have to trawl through ALL of my recent posts.

Other information you might be looking for (and where you can find it):

“Who are you?” – The “About” tab gives you a drop-down menu with “The Reviewer,” which gives a short bio of me (Anne), “The Blog” featuring a short history of the blog, and my “Review Policy” (a MUST READ for anyone who wants to request a review).

“What’s going on?” – For a weekly schedule, go to the “About” tab and click “The Schedule.” Check under “Current Events” for more community-wide or sporadic events – click on “Current Events” for an overview, or choose an event from the drop-down menu for more specific information and details (i.e. progress, schedules etc.)

“What can I talk about?” – Anything! See the commenting section above, or shoot me an email at anne [at] creativityscorner [dot] net

“Who else should I visit?” – The “Links” menu lists some of my favorite people and places to visit, sorted into “Favorite reviewers,” “Favorite authors,” and “Bookish sites.”

“Can I link to you on my blog?” – Sure! There’s a button for just that with code in the right side bar – just copy the code and paste it onto your blog.

STILL can’t find what you’re looking for? There’s a site search widget immediately under the welcome widget – just type a few words and it’ll give you a list of relevant posts to look through.
